We became familiar with every kind of bomb. Least feared were the incendiaries, mainly because everyone knew, in theory, how to deal with them. One incendiary crashed through the roof of our canteen, landed on a basked of eggs, and fried them on the spot and the story goes that the fire squad on duty made an excellent breakfast of them!
